Charles Lee Mudd Jr. appeared on WGN 9 Evening News and News at Nine to speak about anonymity online. In particular, he discussed when the identity of an anonymous speaker should be revealed. His appearance occurred in the context of a news story on a ruling ordering disclosure of an anonymous speaker's identity in litigation filed by Lisa Stone, a Buffalo Grove village trustee, in the Circuit Court of Cook County. In the litigation, an anonymous speaker is alleged to have made defamatory statements about Trustee Lisa Stone's 15 year old son apparently after he defended his mother in an online discussion during the 2009 election for Village trustee.

Mudd Law Offices successfully defeated large portions of a motion to dismiss filed by the Village of Forest Park and obtained a significant ruling on substantive issues under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Stored Communications Act, and other related claims in Steinbach v. Village of Forest Park, et al.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation ("EFF") and Charles Lee Mudd Jr. moved to quash subpoenas unjustifiably seeking the identity of online anonymous speakers online in the Circuit Court of Cook County. EFF issued a press release.

A Federal District Court in Texas held in a ruling on the RIAA's motion for summary judgment that a question of fact exist as to whether a defendant constitutes an Innocent Infringer under the United States Copyright Act in a lawsuit filed against an individual for alleged copyright infringement.

Mudd Law Offices assisted the Electronic Frontier Foundation ("EFF") in filing an amicus brief in a matter in which Cicero Town President Larry Dominick sought "the disclosure of the identities of the author of two MySpace profiles that allegedly included defamatory comments and unnamed privacy violations." In a favorable decision for Mudd Law Offices' defendant-clients in Tamburo v. Dworkin, et al., the Honorable Joan B. Gottschall of the Northern District of Illinois denied the Plaintiffs' motion to vacate and transfer which sought to vacate the Court's prior ruling dismissing the Sixth Amended Complaint for lack of personal jurisdiction and transfer the matter to the Western District of Michigan.

The Superior Court of Arizona issued an order dismissing with prejudice litigation against our clients The Suggestion Box, Inc. and John Doe. The Plaintiff, Mobilisa, Inc., had sought John Doe's identity from The Suggestion Box, Inc. for John Doe's use of its anonymous email services. Since 2005, The Suggestion Box, Inc. fought to oppose disclosure of its customer's identifying information. After three years and an appeal to the Court of Appeals of Arizona, it succeeded.
